Anyone have issues ordering from amgeneral? I've ordered tons at the beginning of the year and no issues. Shipped fast. Now I have an order that says it was placed, but not shipped now for 3 weeks. Calling the amgeneral parts phone number gives me a ladies voice mail that's full. I've called a few times and no live person like they had previously.

I had an issue a few weeks ago. I received 3 shipments for one order and I was still missing stuff. I called them several times and a few times it didn’t even go thru. I finally got hold of the lady and she said that my remaining items were 90 days out or something ridiculous. I asked for a credit because I needed my stuff. She was helpful and nice once I finally got ahold of her. Keep trying

In general I have had good experiences ordering from AMGeneral. When I have had a problem it was usually related to an out of stock item. It's not always clear that an item is out of stock. Some times I missed it and others they just didn't have it. Eventually I received everything I ever ordered. Email got a response quicker than a phone call.

I've emailed with no response too. Put a order in, said it was in stock and then for some reason they charged me for 4 items when I only ordered 2. I don't mind the wait because the parts are original but I was hoping they didn't go the way of GMA or Brenton.

So the main issue with their website is they don't distinguish between parts on hand, and parts that are on hand but reserved for a government order. They will hold that part in inventory until the gov contract is filled, then resume shipping to civilian customers.

Good info. Last time I talked with a employee, he said they have no workers.

Never dealt with AM General directly, but Mac Motors is an official dealer and they have been fantastic to work with.
Big fan of Craig at Mac Motors! Big price difference between the big 4. I try to put orders together based on the prices for what I need. AM General I got new windshields for 82.00 and free shipping, because of Action. I wait for free shipping offers on stuff that’s expensive to ship. I have had a great experience with my go to 4. I will tell you that I have received really cheap gaskets from Mac Motors lately and I reordered them from Kascar. Big difference

I would let mac know of the quality issues with the gaskets. I wonder if they are substituting aftermarket or china.com stuff...

Had not heard of them doing so, I thought they were strictly AMG OE.

AMG did tell me a couple years ago they were going to add hundreds of additional parts to the catalog, I don't think it ever happened.

Yeah, the few times I had issues with stuff from Mac Motors, they immediately remedied the situation. I highly doubt that Mac Motors is buying stuff from China. I assume that even AM General doesn't make everything in-house. They probably have vendors (and multiple vendors for the same part) and I'm sure quality can vary.

With any vendor, you should inspect everything you receive and speak up if there are issues.

I don't think AMG makes anything but possibly the body panels etc.

I would think at least the frame and body, but you're probably right that almost everything is is outsourced. I wouldn't make sense to make engine parts, ball joints, etc.

I'm told they still make X-doors in batches, but they only make the front and not the rear, and they are stupid expensive.

The first couple "free shipping" sales they left oversized items like the windshield glass at the regular price. That first christmas I bought 3 of them for $105 shipped.
Then I think they realized they were losing a lot of money because of that, and they started bumping up the price on some items for the "free shipping" sale

it DID take a couple months for them to ship, but I was buying them for spares so not a big deal to me.

I ordered some brake calipers back in April, and they still don't have them. Their parts manager sent me updates, saying that they might ship them in October. Their supplier is having issues getting the parts for them.
