Another 806B acting funny.

Got an 806B just shipped to our Det. It's fires up, frequency comes up and voltage comes up... To like 220 volts? (everything is set to 208 and 60hz) can manually bring voltage down with switch but it fluctuates very slowly down to like 190 and slowly back up to 208. I'm thinking the automatic voltage regulator is toast but wanna make sure, inside the box all the little circle covers that cover the adjustments are missing so I'm pretty sure someone was messing with the adjustments at one point but don't think that has anything to do with the wide range of voltage fluctuations. I have a spare(hopefully working) back plane with an AVR on it that I might just swap out in the morning.

Hey Guy.
Never really figured out the Gen with the high voltage, I got it stabilized and set to 208 and it powered our camp (running parallel) for a few weeks then the engine alternator caught fire.

So we swapped it out for another one. Worked great for about 3 days till our camp guests turned on a breaker they shouldn't have and overloaded the power supply. I don't have the picture but one of the wires that goes to the switch panned from the generator lugs had its installation fried.

Anyways. This 60k now doesn't supply enough power. When held in the start position total AC voltage goes up to 150 with 60hz When you let go it drops to 0 obviously.

Is this generator toast?

Its a B Model, engine keeps running. Heartbeat is beating.

have you taken a VR out of one of the other dogs and put it in? See if that changes anything.

Looks like the usual bad avr problem to me. I had one that did the exact same voltage fluctuations under load a few weeks back till the avr died. Swapped and fixed it. If no stock avr is available, you can use an aftermarket avr and it will work.
