So it sounds like for the diesels it's Davis and Salt Lake for sure (because I have had to do them) and possibly Cache county ... Looks like Utah county quit diesel testing in '06

I know there are more cucv's around here. But I dont mind. There's plenty of time and besides, my kids will get a kick out of all the big trucks...self nomination for "convoy pacer".

LOL Nah...It's only 3 hours from my place in North Salt Lake to the cabin at an average speed of 45 mph The slow part is the climb up to Soldier Summit on US-6 on the way to Price but we would be turning off right by the top of Price Canyon

With stock tires the TMs (and Dash data plate) list a maximum speed of 56mph. TM also says best fuel economy will be around 2000 - 2100 RPM.

Personally, with my stock tires, I like to cruise at 45 mph and my tachometer reads about 2100-2200. I can, and have, cruised at 50mph with worse fuel economy; tachometer reading of about 2300 - 2400 RPM. I personally have not pushed my truck past 2500 RPM (except during bad operator down shifting... :oops:) - and I only run it high for about 1/2 of a mile to not be SO slow in the center lane when going northbound on I-215 to get to get onto Legacy HWY. This maneuver rates me around 53 MPH.

But hey, I can do about 35mph going up (South bound) Sardine Canyon. I also can actually pass the commercial semis [thumbzup] - okay, fine, they're fully loaded and I'm empty, but who's counting?!


But back on topic - Way back before my green fever moved into the vehicular realm (okay it always was, but I never really knew how folks owned former MVs), one of my brother's neighbors in Cache Valley had a CUCV. I should talk to my brother and see if that is still the case.

I almost bought a deuce. Wife did some research, said no. To slow, bad mpg, no seats for kids, can't park it at the grocery store. Needed a daily driver and found my m1009. love it. Hits 70 easy on freeway, not any worse on gas than my former blazer. We love this truck. Cant wait to get it out and see what it can really do. We have done some light trailing at 5 mile pass and Wasatch State Park. And a little light mudding here in Pleasant Grove. I'm from Alabama and mud runs in our veins.

I'm happy doing 45/50 ish as all the kids and a lot of times even the adults all stare and wave as they slow down and pass :)

I know last year (2014) the Utah Military Vehicle club did a Memorial Day roll out with the National Guard escorting. Had over 30 vehicles.

If it is mechanically sound who cares what it looks like. That will be a fun rig to play with. If we all manage to get together for an outing at least a couple of us have winch trucks just in case. :lol: Alexsha, you aren't mad at me over the cargo covers are you? I do have 2 excellent use ones to sell.
Nah, I still need to get troop seats and bows and such. What pisses me off is that I could get the seats, bows, uprights, AND cover for under $600 if I lived out east. We're in a military dead zone here.

****, I'd be happy if I could even get sideboards without seats.

Have you checked with Boyce equipment on that stuff. I know he has a bunch of the wood one, not sure about the good fiberglass ones though. I agree, everything is cheaper east of the Mississippi.

I like Boyce, I really do. Nice guy. I think his products must be made of gold though.
