Any idea what might have been mounted here?

It's a standard military switch like those mounted in vehicles like the CUCV. Only more poorly done. It could have been for anything that needed to be turned on and off.

Search under the dash for unused free wires and see where they go. Look for drilled aftermarket holes and see where they lead.

Maybe fill it with a switch or place a small reproduction military placard over it?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look for some loose wires behind the dash to see where they go. The holes don't bother me, just more curious as to what might have gone there and if was anything I should try to hook back up and make work. Thanks guys.
