Any Issue in Covering the Hubs of an M1102

I just got a set of American Racing wheels to replace the stock wheels. I did drop the tire size to 33". The wheels have a cover to go over the hub. The hubs have been recently serviced and are well greased.

The question, should I be concerned about heat/temperature of the hubs by covering them?

I added Bearing Buddies and a GM wheel set to my 101A3...Zero issues. The wheel will act as a heat sink for the hub and drum. If you're worried about heat, just feel the wheel the hub.

Thanks for the response and the great information. The funny part is, those are the first set of wheels that I had on the trailer. They seem to be the go to.

They're the most ideal for me...because, reasons. Hahaha

I have the same wheel & tire combo running on my 03 Suburban, 78 K25, M101A3, and my M116A3...and they all have matching spares, Suburban has 2 matching spares. My 03 Silverado has the same rubber but is on Alcoas for being DRW. These wheels are constantly up for sale on Craigslist for $50-$200 for a set of 4. I had to order lugnuts to run the centercaps on the older threads.

That makes life a lot easier. I have a Tundra, which does not have the same bolt pattern as the M1102. I have though about changing the bolt patter, but I got a good deal on the new wheels. For the time being, I am not going to swap them out. That of course could all change tomorrow.

Awesome to hear. I did a 125 mile trip and checked them every 30 to see if they were warm to the touch. They were nice and cool the whole trip.

Very nice wooden side rail addition, using electrical EMT it looks like.. what or how did you buy or fab the corner and side support pieces, those look trick as well..

Those are the factory bow supports that come with the trailer- if you got them. Mine did not, and I had to source them separately.

I found an industrial electrician to bend the conduit for me. He did them all in one shot without mistakes- unlike the mess I would have made.

It really is amazing how those things that look so easy - really are skills that came with learning.
