I'm in talks with someone for a 5 ton truck that will likely need to be towed back home. Anyone have a towbar I could borrow/rent?

I'm in Middle Georgia off I-75.
You can borrow any one of mine.

edit; OK, I looked up buchanan, and we're a pretty good ways off, esp. if you are headed to Birmingham.

Might check with twright, he's over in Rockmart, don't recall if he has one. If ya do and you still have the 16.5 rims, I'll beam over some money and leave the rims with Tony. Lemme know if that works out.

Do you have a where to where (I'm assuming I-20)? There's quite a few around in the ATL area. Mine is on long term loan to provide emergency recovery within the ATL area and is about 40 miles south of I-20.

Not sure about who else has one.

Sorry for getting behind on this. It looks like I might be back on for this truck now after further talks. I've just gotta figure out how to get it home. The truck needs some attention. It needs the brakes bled and it has some nasty looking tires on it. Can I possibly use my deuce to flat tow a M54 without a bed? I think the truck has a port on the front for a gladhand air connection for the brakes. I think I can juggle the wheels/tires around enough to get 6 wheels and tires on the ground. It's about 95 miles from the truck (Argo, AL) to where I'm going to store it (Bremen, GA). I've got a friend with CDLs that will drive the truck. But I'm just wondering if I should try to piece it together to get it on the road. Or just find someone to lowboy it back home?

It would be less work to have it hauled, but I have towed 5tons with my deuce. It is certainly much slower. If it will be your first time tow bar experience, I don't think its a good idear.

This, the voice of experience! One who has towed an M817 tipper with a heavy as heck shop van complete with an N/A multifuel. When Gimpy sez its not a good idea, I'd listen.

I wasn't really keen on the whole flat towing idea personally, was just throwing it out there. But thanks everyone for the advice. [thumbzup]

Had to bring THAT trip up huh Kenny? What a turd, I won't be doing that again. On some of the back hills to its storage lot, I had that 109 in low range first to keep moving! It will get an LDS some day.

Just to bump this thread up. Looks like I've won a truck off GL I'll need to pick up soon. It's just a M35, so I'm just going to tow it with my M35.

I've got a towbar in Leesburg, GA that you can borrow for free. Just bring it back when you're done. It's roughly 180 miles from you, maybe someone closer will pitch in but it's an option if you need it.
