ARB 5 ton locker

I'd be interested in doing all 3 axles on mine at the low end of that price range. However, if we're going to be giving them actual commitments to cover development, I'd like to see a discount closer to the distributor price as opposed to paying full normal retail.

I'd be in for ONE. But only conditionally. That condition being that 5 ton locking hubs come out of being vapor ware.
I don't know what that means but I will be sure to ask.

I'm in for 1 set. Can the originator send out an update please ?
I don't really have an update, going back through this thread and calculating how many we have so far, I only come up with 25. Some people said yes they were intersted but didn't say how many so I put that as one. I haven't had time to try to find any popular 4x4 sites so if someone knows a few popular sites that might have people interested in lockers then please let me know. Or if you belong to one of those sites, feel free to post and see what you can come up with.

As far as a steer axle, I have an electric locker on my 3/4 Dodge Ram and it works fine in something loose but you can't steer worth a darn on hard stuff.

Even if we come up with 50, we are going to have to try to convince a vendor to put in an initial request to buy at least 50. I think that will be the hardest part.

We'd probably just have to get with one of our SS vendors, collect the money up front, and then put in the order ourselves...once the word was out they really do exist, I'm sure the popularity of the axle/locker combo would increase quickly so get your axles now while they are in obscurity!

The same answer was given to my local dealer. They made comment that the first 2.5 ton kits were not drop in and required some fitting work. Something to consider. I would scrape up the cash to get the front axle done if this looked like a go.

Sooooo... where do I send my money?
Just post your account number and we will take care of the rest.

What is the TOTAL cost needed for this project to work ?????
If you take 50 sales x the top end of their estimated cost $1500, it is a mear $75k.

Have you heard anything back from arb?
I have not contacted them any further. We need an initial purchase of 50, I counted around 25 from this thread. Short of signing up on a bunch of 4x4 sites, I don't know how to get the word out that we could make this happen if we had enough folks interested.

if you need a vendor to help with this we would be willing to help with what we can
What do you suggest? How do we get this info out to others so we can come up with the other 25+ lockers we need? Are your customers mainly 5 ton guys?

Not to derail but there is a detroit locker available for the 5 tons currently.
I think most of us are thinking the ARB for the front axle but having a selectable locker for the rear would be nice also. It would probably cause less wear on the tires.

I have done several searches and I can't come across anyone who has tried the Gearhart locker. I would be curious to know who has one installed and how they like it.

Isn't the Gearhart locker the same as the stock lockers in the USMC 5 tons? There have been several owners who have reported USMC locker operation results. Try searching the forums for locker or USMC locker etc...

Anyone pushing this still? I have a few trucks that would love lockers. I bet if you contacted a few of the big MV dealers or mud truck sites that specialize in rockwells and they all committed to purchase 10 or 15 each for stock, you'd easily hit over 50....

I passed some contact info for ARB to Those Military Guys. They were going to call ARB and see what we could do. I have not heard back so I don't know if they have been able to contact them or not.
