You have to modify the internals of the housing. I added a second air entry spot

upgrade air filter (49140 outer/ 49141 inner) . .

Details are on page 5 of my 915 thread
Well , I didn't know you had an M915 thread or I forgot, CRS syndrome.

So the "Screen" , as in that framed expanded metal part that
helps to protect the radiator under the grill, well, it was just
laying there rattlin' away when I did the take-apart. Now that
were rebuilding it is time to do something about it.

I looked at the TM and it appears as though there are 2 brackets
that attach to the bottom front corners of the radiator to help
support it. NO WAY! If I take a hit I don't want pressures tweekin'
my radiator so I went looking for alternatives. I found said w/ a
couple of L brackets. So the lip of the SCREEN is now in front
of the grill but now if i take a hit pressures are distributed to
other areas instead of the radiator! I also took the time to weld
the expanded metal a little bit better to the Screens frame...

I am not real keen on the top resting upon the fiberglass grill but
it is quite soild. There are spacers between the bottom of the screen
and my L Brackets and 1.25" long 1/4-20 bolts w/ nyloc nuts.
It will stop a road aligator, I am sure.

Touch up Camo paint to come and I will probably thru bolt to the fiberglass
w/ fender washers.

Function over form on this w/o turning it into a 3 act play.

SO MAD! That guy DELETED on EBay sent me TRASH.
That steering wheel is warped, scratched, cracked, divited and
you can CLEARLY SEE the OE package was opened and someone
transfered stickers to it. I FOUND the ORIGINAL PART NUMBER
for that steering wheel in the packaging!
WRONG STEERING WHEEL!
So going to SUE Ebay and HIM if I am not made whole and SOON!
LIVID!

Who repairs bakelite steering wheels or I need a P/N 2469-00 NSN=2530-01-131-3371

The EBAYer stood tall and refunded me in full ... I deleted his name.
Stiil MAD though...

In the interm I may have found 3 NOS Wheels ... If you need let me know.

I've had that happen a couple of times. Ebay is pretty good about refunding your money if you can't work things out with the seller. If the seller wants me to pay for the return shipping, I tell them I'm not responsible for your mistake. If you want it back, send me a paid shipping label.

I BREAK TOOLS o_O

So, b4 I put anything used into service that I bought and is used I give it
a real good once over, looking for problemos. One ritual I have is dam the
torpedos, all wheels are coming off so I KNOW, that the lugs and budds are
not overtightened by some IDIOT and I am not trying to bust things loose
on the side of the road.

Thank GOD I am doing just THAT, on my tilt trailer and you guys, mark my
words, DO IT!

SO I go to pull outter lug nuts on the passenger side, budd studs are marked "R"
so normal threads they are and I know what lefty loosie means. FAWK!

I TWISTED and BROKE a Military LugBudd Extendo Combo tool! LOOK!

I will let the pics do the rest of the talking but that cheater is over 10' long
at times...

In the end, a 36" pipe wrench AND 8' cheater w/ PB Blaster was a HUGE help.
Sprayed it on, walked away for an hour...

I use a lil bit of ANTI-SEAZE on threads and mating surfaces in reassembly and
yes, I have a giant torque wrench. I need to look up budds and lugs torque values.
Anyone know for sure what they are?

Ohh, and I am replacing the plastic tranparent hub covers as well...

If I hadn’t known you were a plumber, I’d say that you were a plumber.... LOL!

My favorite is when I am trying to break Budd thimbles loose, and break off the square portion on the end of the thimble...re-install outer Budd nut & break out the welder (weld nut to thimble), and off it comes once cool. Sometimes I wonder if just the heat alone broke it loose, as the thimble/nut combo usually spins right off with little effort afterwards....

VALVE STEMS QUESTION

So simple it might be, but there could also be some tricks or trick
parts I do not know about...

I am putting all new tires on my trailer. They are duals, 17.5 10 lug rims.

What bullet proof valve stems would you buy?

And what valve stem to put on my spare! Extended or stubby? ha!

You REALLY want bullet proof? Have them foam filled. You will never have tire issues until you need to change them, then they need to be put on a lathe and the tire/foam machined off.

Don't know if it is available for on road aps though.

For my trailers I like the all-metal stubbies, but YMMV. If you’re using the cheaper Chinese tires that only last 4-5 years, then I’d go with the cheapest valve stems available as the tires won’t outlast them.

But because it is a dual set up the inners have to be the extended kind.
I was hoping someone knew of good tough ones if they exist...
