G'day everyone,.....
Initial Post Mission Report
Arrived at where I am to collect my vehicle and present release order.
Get escorted around back to collect it, they are surprised I intend to drive it home.
I find my vehicle has NOT been put back together correctly and the door inspection panels not at all!
The intake mushroom cap is just sitting loose, the clamp is outside the side panel NOT inside it where it should be!!
Also the winch cable is NOT in the drum but in the bed.
Its only then I am told it won't start.
Not only that but after I walk around it I try to start it only to find the battery's are flat!
I had to go down the road to where a truck auto electrician business is and got them to come over to jump start it.
So $35.00 later they showed up,...
Connected up and with full power now in the system it turns over great.
Oh but its not going to be that simple!
It will not fire.
I did a pre start before, checked, water, oil, fluids,...
Everything ok.
Only 1.5 inchs of fuel in tank.
The Deuce has been sitting so long the fuel in the line had bled back to the tank.
So after opening the return line connection I let the lift pump in the tank to push fuel through to the mechanical fuel pump.
After closing the return line she fired up first crank.
Ran rough for 10 seconds and then ran like a dream, just a little hand throttle till she warmed up!
Closed her up and then drove off after checking lights, left front indicator not working, might just need replacement globe (I'm hoping).
All this took an hour.
Got 30mtrs down road and brake peddle went soft!!!
Holy Handgrenades!!
Had to stop about 50mtrs down road to pay for the jump start.
Unfortunately I stalled the engine because it was in gear when I lifted off the clutch.
I payed for the jumpstart and got another jump for free.
I noticed a very LARGE oily wet spot under the right front wheel,...
On inspection brake fluid is covering the inside right front wheel and a little is on the left front wheel.
A couple of doors down from where I collected the Deuce is a Truck brake specialist.
So I reversed all the way back around 70-80mtrs.
On inspection the front brake line across the axle has been crushed where chains were used to secure the vehicle!
So that is now being replaced.
Also on inspection I noticed that the left rear wheel nuts are not correctly fitted.
The inner wheel nuts have been fitted outside and the outer nuts fitted inside, only 2 of the studs have correctly fitted nuts on that rear wheel.
The Deuce is still there now as they had no time today to make the brake line and fit.
Will be going back in 2 days to collect with the brake system checked out.
Report Ends.
Aussie.
