.Is the front axil boot with zipper hard to replace ?I have greese leaking out and have ordered the zip on type to replace it any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank u very much.
Yes and No.
Depends on how patient you can be. The Technical Manuals explain how to do the job. Might want to start there. TM 9-2320-272-23-3 has a set of step by step "How To" directions on Page 0409-1 (PDF Page 585 in the version that I have).
The inner retaining ring is most likely going to make you cuss. It isn't hard, but it is difficult sometimes. There is a groove that ring has to fit into and force fitting it won't work. It requires patience and on a greasy slick axle housing just will not work. CLEAN it really good. Get all the grease out of the way. That would help more than anything else...
Thanks for the info. I have the old one off now, there was a lot of fluid that came out,is that from the differential ?the main thing is to "KEEP" ur hands CLEAN and everything else. it should only take a couple hrs. like he said " PATIENCE" good luck
Does it look and smell like gear oil? I don't know the spec, but it's at least 90w.Thanks for the info. I have the old one off now, there was a lot of fluid that came out,is that from the differential ?
