Balanced sleeve vs standard thermostat

Hey everyone, quick question

I have a '85 M1008, 6.2 diesel, I need to replace the thermostat gasket and housing because it has a pretty noticeable leak, and while I'm in there I'll replace the thermostat as well.

The thermostat that it's currently on is a "standard" type, and so is the one i bought (Motorad 2006180, 180F opening temp), but I did some research and found out that the OEM replacement should be a AC Delco 13255, which is a balanced sleeve thermostat.

The question is, does it matter which kind of thermostat I use, as long as it has the correct opening temp or does the balanced sleeve make a significant impact and the lack of it might be the cause of the leak?

thanks in advance,
Leo

The Robertshaw and the gates have been said to be better units. Robertshaw made some early ac Delco units, they were just rebranded. Sourcing an original ac Delco may be difficult. I have a 180 in my k10 and it has trouble reaching temp on flat ground. If in not mistaken, these engines like a 190.

I'm from italy so the climate usually helps with getting up to temp even while cruising flat.
There's a listing for a "GM Genuine 13255" on Rockauto, which should be the original AC Delco one, but considering that from the US to here, a 12$ thermostat will cost me around 40$ shipping and customs included, I'm gonna keep the conventional 180F one and see how it goes
