I saw a mention above of Marine batteries, but was that just a marine application with the screw on posts, or deep cycle?

Deep cycle are meant to be discharged almost fully then recharged as I understand it, and don't always give as lenghty service as a conventional battery in an automotive application.

I have bought two sets of boat batteries. One was starting and one said starting and deep cycle. I thought the deep cycle might last longer with infrequent use, but I have nothing to base it on.

Batteries need care, well treated they will last longer. Keep them fully charged, when connected in series, charge each separately from time to time to maintain equal state of charge.
IMHO, if you think a solargizer is going to help you care for a battery, then you are asking for trouble, the key is to maintain your batteries so that solargizers won't be needed.

I'm picking up my m35 tomorrow and it has dead batteries, i need to stop by an autozone and pick up 2 batteries to take with me to get it home. what are the dimentions of the battery tray for the deuce. i'm told that a pair oif series 24 batteries in series will fit the bill. i just dont want to get there and have batteries that are too wide for the tray. i need to be able to drop them in and maybe shim them with some wood 2x4s just to get home. what type terminals should i get. thanks

Group 31's are the biggest that will fit. You have to pull the warp out of the plastic battery box to get them in, and they fit very snuggly... a little too snuggly. Group 27's fit nicely, but are a bit lower capacity.

While we're on the topic of batteries, I've gotten a set of Hawker Armasafe batteries for my truck. Has anyone had experience with them? They are said to be very good and last roughly 8 years in extreme conditions however since my truck sits in Ft. Rucker, I could not say. The batteries have a manufacture date of April 09' and have never been used. Should I put them on a charger for when my paperwork comes through or will they be good to go? (They're sitting on a wood floor in my shop, not on concrete as I've heard that will drain one.)

sandcabra164- I have the hawker batteries in my deuce. My batteries wer manufactured in 6/09 but wouldn't start the truck when I picked up the truck 10/4/09. We jumped it with a slave cable and let the truck run for a while. The batteries seem to be coming back to life but I am still having trouble starting in the cold. I use the truck on the weekends so it sits for a week in between uses. I think thes batteries are coming back to life but it is too soon to tell. They fit perfect in the battery tray.

new East Penn Deka 6TL batteries

picked up a pair of new East Penn Deka 6TL batteries today from my local battery dealer for our MEP-003A. I'm sure that a smaller set would have worked but figure that the 6TL's should last a very long time in standby service.
Fast service from the dealer. Gave him a heads up on what we were looking for last week, went by yesterday around 16:00 to order and was making diesel smoke by 19:00 today.

I just found this website / product for using Optima Batteries in MVs. It didn't list the price but looks KISS. It's from a company called Military Battery Systems, (970) 586-0660 .

Military Battery Systems - 6TL/6TMF Adapter Tray

Whenever it comes time to replace batteries in any of my vehicles / toys, I've been using Optima batteries. They're expensive but zero maintenance, clean, and tough. Amazon always has them relatively cheap with free shipping to your front door.

Hello, I have a M1070 with 4 Deka 6TMF batteries, but because of my charging system that had a problem (the regulator was dysfunctional and gave around the 33volts), I have to replace all 4 expensive and great working batteries. The problem I have now is that they don`t have this size battery, where I`m located in Suriname. So if I replace these 4 batteries with other brands, it won`t fit in the battery box. So I bought two Powermaster 200amp instead of 4 Deka batteries 120amp@ to let it fit in the box. The M1070 has two systems: a 12 volt and a 24 system. Could anyone please advise if it would it be a problem to make this swap from 4 batteries to 2 batteries?

I love the Optima batteries ! The newer ones also eliminated the problem of the top "buss bar" corroding and then breaking under load. I still use the standard military batteries in my deuce since I got a good deal on them, but my CUCV uses the Optima.

It should work just fine. It is the total amount of cranking amps that you need to be concerned about not how many batteries you have. Just take the 12 volt lead of one battery and the 24volt lead off the two batteries connected in series.

I have two group 31 batteries in my M929 and just installed two H8 AGM batteries in my M915A1. If you can make your own hold down bracket you can use any two batteries with enough cranking amps to start the truck.

I run a pair of group 34 batteries in my deuce. I don't think you really need more than 600 CCA per battery because the starter doesn't pull that many amps, unless it's old and tired I suppose.
