Battery Minder(s?) for LMTV M1078A1?

I'd like to put a 24V (and?) 12V battery minder on my LMTV. Anyone have any suggestions as to brand and model?

Great idea!!! BatteryMINDer 2012-AGM for agms, BatteryMINDer 12117 for old school, charge each 12 volt pair separate. Been running these for 10 + years.

You do NOT want to do that. Not that way. If you want to plug it in to a maintainer get one of these and hookup to each battery independently. Charging the 24v bank with a 28v maintainer will imbalance and kill the weaker of the two.

I use this on my M1079 with dual batteries.
It's permanently mounted in my battery box with the 120v plug sticking out near the NATO port

Flip the battery disconnect, plug the 120v in for the night, done.

Noco, or victron. We haveca couple nocos at work, i like them…

The noco dual outputs are isolated and can hook up in series, one -output gnd and the + output to 12. And the second output - to 12v and + to 24v. This will compensate for any vampire loads and float both to proper charge levels.

you can do this with a pair of any ungrounded battery chargers(2 prong plug, no ground reference). Hook one up to a g-12 battery (outer batteries) and one to a 12-24 batt(innermost batts).

We have 5A Norco's on all our 12V farm equipment and the CAT backup generator. I have a tractor that's 25YO and has the original battery although, I know I'm pushing my luck, there. Certainly, that is not the only solution and I want to review what others have suggested. Thank for your investment in time to respond.

A pair of 5A noco’s would work great, just hook one to the appropriate + - posts of one inner/inboard and one outer/outboard(farthest from the frame) battery.

would highly recommend dropping to just 2 batteries in series if you have not already done so. The battery-alternator size mismatch is one part of all the electrical/battery issues with these trucks…

Interesting on the batteries. My truck came with 4 "Jims Batteries" installed, maybe from Walmart. The cable for the rear right hand battery was not even connected to the post. Runs fine, starts fine buy maybe a pair of the military batteries, per your suggestion might be a sound move.

If you have a 100A alternator truck, then the recommendation is two group 24's.

The 6TL is a little big and definitely don't go to AGM's like the 6T-AGM.

That alternator will thank you. Though regulator failures aren't uncommon on older 100's so don't count on that saving it.

If it's not an A1R (2008 and later) it has the 100a alt.

Absolutely drop to dual batteries.

I don't have this diagram for the "With Disconnect Switch" but I think it's still the same.
