I'm painting parts of my house with it because it matches the sand color so nicely....a novel idea for house paint

Second coat went on yesterday. A little bake in the sun and then a 3rd coat from about 18" away to add some texture. Color still a little deeper than the truck but plan on the WD40 treatment soon.

Ok so far I've slogged through 35 pages in this thread but haven't found what I'm looking for (I know, it's in the next 35 pages). I've noticed that a couple of members here have painted their MVs up in the MERDC pattern but didn't give the breakdown as to S/W,H-D,S-W or Lowes paint codes.

Reading through a lot of these threads am I to understand that I can take the Federal paint codes from the manual to one of these places and they can mix the paint up from that?

The list of FS codes is found in the Home Depot computer by going to competitor look up and putting in federal standard as the manufacturer.. then you put in the five digit code for the color you want.

What SETOYOTA said. The challenge is getting the guy working the paint computer to follow the directions.

Our Deuce at the York PA, MVPA convention. Also Thank You to the judges. This is a new paint coating for the show 1st one was 6 years old and still going strong. Just a few easy touch ups over the years.

L1A1.....The FS numbers can be mixed at almost any paint formulator....they all have the information if they are smart enough to access it. Behr seems to be very good quality, but almost any hardware has access to the formula by the FS number. I've taken it a step further and paint my house with the green 383 and tan.

Door and frame had a plastic vulcanized to it and I thought the whole unit needed replaced. After seeing the new cost, I did repair. Now adding a full view storm door and side window. Edit....and steel hand rails.

NATO green ans Arctic white



Got the Land Rover Lightweight painted recently. Had a sample of the green sent over from the UK, white was just untinted base. Both were acquired from the local hardware store as water based exterior deck paint. Thinned for spraying and 'thrown on' with minimal masking for glass and rubber for the "motor pool" effect. There could be stencilling done for tyre pressure, voltage of rear trailer socket, axle oils, unit call sign and if appropriate for shipping, a weights panel on each door.

For the rivet counters: wheels should be 16" with Goodyear Extra Grip tyres - studs optional (which I have a set of), roll cage was a 'keep the wife happy when off roading with baby' mod (hidden by soft top). Spare should be on the bonnet (hood) and bumperette mounted aerial is a personal addition.

M6611A1 Winter Verdant
This is our vacation cabin. It’s a 1995 2 bedroom, single wide, 14’ X 50’, with propane heat, & well water. It was/is pretty rough inside and out. We bought the place on 40 acres in the National Forest. Last Summer, we painted the conex on the property ‘Sand’ with two cans of 9 yo Behr Ultra that was left. After mixing with a drill paint mixer, it went down with a roller and brush very well. It really looks nice. It went on thick and dried with a nice ‘grain’. Searching for Behr paint on the innerwebz brought me here. Then I read this whole thread and it inspired me to paint the mobile home on our vacation property.

I have always been a militaria buff and appreciate the utility designed into pieces of military equipment & gear.

We sprayed this with Behr Marquis with several Harbor Freight $20 paint sprayers. I thinned the paint a little so it would spray better. About 6 oz of water to the gallon. We went through three sprayers in one weekend. I had one new in the box HF paint sprayer. It lasted about three hours of painting. It made noise but would not paint. Tried cleaning and lubing. Went to HF and bought two more with an extended warranty. We got almost 90% done when the two new ones failed. Took them back for replacement and then finished the job.

There is still a sizable amount of trim to do and a couple of places that need to be repainted. Overall, I am very happy with the way it turned out. We go there about every other weekend so, over the next couple of months, I’ll finish it. Besides the trim work, we need to paint the starboard 8’x8’ deck, and the port hatch gangway. There is some camo work to do on the window A/C’s. We may spray the door and window glass with the flat black to reduce the sheen.
To save a few bucks, we painted the 5% Sand and Black accents with Rustoleum camo spray paint. The color is right, but bled some. It will need to be touched up, as well.

Is the fencing to keep something OUT, or to keep something IN?

Mostly to keep in our grand-dogs. If one would split at night, my daughter would worry. We are kind of remote, so it is DARK on cloudy and new moon nights. To keep a low profile when we are there, we don't use much outside light.

I learned to embrace darkness, it was a lesson learned from, believe it or not, some Navy SEALS:

- Our battalion (SEABEES) was billeted with a SEAL TEAM once on a deployment to Puerto Rico (Rosey Roads).

- Why we were together is beyond me...

- Anyway those SEALS talked about LOVING the darkness, and preferring it for almost all their operations

- They noted that depending on lights at night can actually blind you to what's around you

- Letting your eyes get used to the darkness you can actually see more (overall) than you can with a light

- Also, it's human nature not to like being out at night, and SEALS apparently make the most of that

Painted last month...Before/after with Behr 4300, primary green coat, then 3 color camo per tb 43-0209. Freehand, so not perfect.
