I personally prefer the Goodyear Gatorback belts... O'Reily's sells them here.

I'd drop the extra $20 for the Gates personally... I hate changing belts and if you skimp there, you'll be changing them sooner.

forgot to say, when he crossed referenced the gates numbers he came up with 15575, 15485 and 15450.

so i guess these might be the new numbers?

crash_af, you have had good luck with the Goodyear Gatorback?

I just replaced my belts and had Goodyear measure the old belts being replaced.

The belts are installed and fit fine. Not sure if they have changed the numbering on the belts or not.

From google "Gates Corporation, a global leader in belts and hoses for automotive and industrial applications, supplies premium quality products to NAPA. Gates is a major global supplier to the world's car manufacturers, which means every NAPA Belts/Hose brand product you buy meets or exceeds original equipment quality."

I guess any of the numbers are just a crap shoot then. I went and checked the belts on my M1008 and they are:
NAPA
Fan & Alt. XL 25-7485
Fan & P.S XL 25-7450
Fan & extra Alt. XL 25-7580
and none of those match what the on line NAPA have for my year model truck,
I did check the manual and found the military measurement. Maybe those will help. Wayne

Sorry for the late reply. I have had good luck with the Gatorback belts... they don't seem to squeal quite as much as the other brands. The part numbers for the belts are in the FAQ stickied to the top of the thread list for the CUCV forum... but here they are again. I don't have the numbers for the other Gatorbacks handy or I'd add them.

Goodyear "Gatorback" - 15485 fits the passenger side alternator on the 6.2
Gates - Driver's side Alt, 7575 Pass side Alt, 7483 Power Steering, 7448

The numbers will not match anything for a civilian truck because the configuration is completely different. I think I remember that the Gatorback numbers start with 15 and then are the inch measurement for the belt... for example, the 48.5" Passenger alternator belt is a 15485... the driver's would then be a 15580 and the PS would be a 15450 or 15455 but I don't remember 100% if that's what I did last time I bought belts.

Later,
Joe

FYI I lost Gen 2 (pass.) belt the other day and went to O'Reilly and just asked for a 1986 k-30 alt. belt, they sold me a 15480 belt which is a 3/8 x 48 3/4 inch OD, it fits without any problems. Wayne

Sorry guys I'm totally new. So how do I figure out which combination of belts is used for my truck? Like I said in my other post I haven't picked it up yet but I'd like to have some new belts for it when I do. I know it is a driver's side alternator.

I recently changed my belts and I used GatorBack's for all 3. I ordered from Summit, and I'm very pleased (with Summit, and the belts). Just thought I'd throw that out for what it's worth.
