Best oil for M151a2

Wondering what some of you guys here run in your Mutts, back when I drove them in the 80's we used 10w30, and I know the Army switched to 15w40 in everything in the 90's, any suggestions for best engine oil? Thanks

The best choice is single grade 30wt. I would say 15w40 would be the second best choice in a temperate climate.

Depends a lot on your climate, and how /where you drive.
Seen everything from SAE 40 single, to 5W30 synthetic run in the 151 mill.

When I was in, we used straight 30 unless it was below freezing.

i use shell rotella in my A1, as it has sufficient zinc for this engine. new oils are fabricated to benefit vehicles with catalytic converters, which do not like zinc, but the old engines need it. 15W40 is fine for northern california, but there are other weights available if your climate is different.

i use 15w40 diesel oil in my 151a2 like mentioned above post it as zic in it and is wath these little engine need<ZINC>
