Does anyone have any information on what type of bolts held the front shackle mounts onto the frame on a m1028? I'm going to replacing the missing mounts but I don't think I'll have any hardware. Any guess as to the size and grade?

You cant go wrong with GRADE 8, fine thread. And remember all the parts of the " fastener" must also be GRADE 8, that means the washers, lock-washers, and nuts.

If your talking about the long bolts that go through the shackle bushings in the frame and spring eye there
7/16x 5" sae.
If your referring to the cast iron bushing mounted to the frame
They were riveted.
A guess, they would be 3/8 or 7/16 x 1 1/4"
Check the rivet hole diameter.

Simply googling the part numbers listed in the -20P, will get you the info you need.

Thanks for all help. I could not find the correct part number for the bolts in the TM but I did learn that I'm also missing what looks like a strengthening plate. Wbparts.com found it but they are asking $250. Looks like I'm going to need a shop fab something up.

I don't understand why you could not find(after reading post 2 & 5) the bolt part numbers/info to acquire the correct hardware.

A look at the -20P(parts TM with exploded views and part numbers).

Then google the part numbers(boxed in red outline) under the heading "part number".

Can you explain what we failed to say to help you find the correct info?

I was just looking at the pictures and I do have to say that they do not show the bolts. Look at numbers 6, 12 and 5 and follow the lines to the right through the bracket and they go to ......................... nothing.
Not taking sides, just pointing it out.

Well I never said that you didn't provide enough or the proper information to find them. All I said was that I was unable to find them. There could a number of reasons why I couldn't find what I was looking for:

1.I'm working off a cellphone because my laptop took a dump so the diagrams are a little hard to make out that way

2.out of the 700+ pages of the TM there is the possibility that I just found a different diagram that just didn't show what I was looking for

3. Its not like I'm replacing broken or wore parts. My truck never came with the mounts so I really don't know what I'm looking for.... and the fact that this is my first ever truck, never mind that's its a military truck at that, im kinda guessing as i go.

I would however like to thank you for taking the time to help me locate the parts. You've been a big help

Thanks for the reply.

I was just trying to understand how to help as effectively as possible.

I thrive on the search, and do enjoy sharing how to do it.

Well Duh,
Sorry for my incorrect reply on the bolt size.
After seeing Dog heads illustrations I realized your talking lifting shackle bolts and I'm
Thinking Spring shackle bolts.
Sorry!
