Yep, it's hard to believe how much is going to the scrap yards and how fast their moving it out, there just isn't the stuff about like there use to be.

If those engines went for $300, I am curious what you got the truck for. You stole it didn't you? Congrats!!!
Thanks, I found out today I was bidding against a scrap yard guy, met him today when were were over there working on the truck. so that will give you a idea what I paid. :) He was picking up all the steel he had won.

It is an M215. The M135 was the troop carrier variant with the longer and lower bed... and factory super singles.

Look at my avitar!

Tranny AND engine fluid is 30 wt NON-Detergent motor oil.

The engine was a 302 which put out ( on a great day) 190 HP.

Download the TMs, that truck is just a cr*p load of fun. Great score!

Yep, the TM's are a must before I wreck something. The trans fluid that was in the truck I added was red, not 30wt. I'll have it hauled home and get all the fluids changed, read, and see what I have. Thanks for the info. I need all I can get.

The trannny fluid was 30w when the truck was issued and used for most if not all of its Army career. However when Memphis Equipment rebuilt them they switched over to ATF. So you will have to check that out. Also a lot of folks did also flush the tranny and then use ATF. Were it me I would drain out what is in there and see if it all comes out a good red color. If so then it well might have been changed over to ATF. If it comes out sort of a red and brown then someone might have just added the ATF.............like the auction folks. If I remember correctly Memphis did put on some of their rebuilds a tag indicating the rebuild.
