Brake Hoses

Does anyone have any part numbers or cross reference info for brake hoses on our Deuces? I want to replace all the hoses on mt Deuce to be on the safe side. I looked at the thread with the NAPA cross reference spreadsheet and there is a hose listed on there through Oriellys but I do not have one near me and it is not available online. The hose list for 12.99 in store and seems reasonable to me. That is only one hose and I would like to get them all. I believe there are 5 hoses total three for the front axle and one to each rear axle.

I did a search and only came up with one thread on brake hoses.

Don't flame me too much. I didn't search before tossing this question out there, but...

Has anyone replaced the rubber hoses with metal tubing brake lines or even stainless braided brake lines? Both of them seem like they would outlast rubber hose in extreme environments.

The rubber hoses move during normal use, that's why they use them. Metal line is out.
Braided stainless is just a rubber line with a stainless woven "cloth" over it. They wear out just as well as "regular' rubber, only you can't see it until after it blows up. Their claim to fame is mostly just bling, because they're all shiny and stainless. Some people actually use them for a purpose, as they are a bit more cut resistant, and a very few race car drivers can drive precicely enough to make use of the extra firmness in the brake pedal. Not really something that's going to be that big of a benefit in a deuce.
Here in Vermont the rust gets after stuff so quickly and thoroughly that rubber hoses typically far outlast metal lines anyhow. When they do fail, it's likely to be because the metal ferrule rotted off and released the hose from the fitting. Stainless won't do that, but you've got to change them pretty regularly because there's no way to inspect them for overall condition, cracking, and dry rotting of the rubber.


I think ODIron among others has correct brake hoses in stock. They have given a lot of years of dependable service, it's hard to go wrong with that...
