Hey guys,
I know I’ve lots of questions recently. Appreciate all the input,
I just finished building my 998 to a desert storm era slant back,
After driving it for about 20 mins I get a clicking in the front. I am a certified diesel tech of 20 years so I start diagnosing immediately.
It sounds like the pads are rattling around. The slightest touch of the brake pedal stops it. And it’s only noticeable on decel maybe below 30mph.
so I examined the front end. Everything seems good, Everything is new. Pads, rotors, caliper mounting brackets, ball joints, tie rods and ends, pitman arm, idler, shocks, bearings were Re locked,
It drives as “good” as ever.
Anyways, the pads move around in the brackets quite a bit, I’d taken this as normal, and I found a website explaining this exact issue and they claim it’s normal and I’m pretty sure it’s my issue.
Axle flanges seem to have a normal mount of play as ay diff with Cv axles,
But it’s annoying as hell, is there any way to fix it?
I’m hesitant to buy new yokes that mount to the diff as it may not improve anything. Even rotating the axle a bit while stationary you can see it pull up the pads then drop them making a click.
Do I just need to put more miles on? Front brakes are under 500 extremely light miles. I mean extremely light truck, going like 25mph. Lol.
