Buss bar blues

Do a little clean up on electrical.
Have a frozen spinning nut circled in picture.
After disassembly I think this was the cause for starter replacement by previous owner.

If you can't find a replacement buss bar you could double up on the second peg as a shortcut.

Good detective work John.

As you have found, the most important part of a high current electrical connection is the part that you don't normally see.
That bad connection has been going on for awhile.

Now is a good time for a preventative maintenance check up on all the battery and related electrical connections.

Noise suppressor, delete it if you want. Otherwise it may become an issue later.

Any time you have dragging starter on CUCVs the first thing you should do is feel these buss bar connections for heat after cranking a while.

24VDC heavy duty bussbar is cheap.
one may just move "those terminals"

Oh, it does make sense. It's a capacitor. It blocks DC but passes AC. It's there to ground out any alternator noise so that it doesn't interfere with the military radios.

Unless you plan to run military radios, yank that turkey!

Wow it seems like it never ends.
Assembling the bus bar back for the ground that goes to the intake manifold.
Find a small wire I believe that goes to the glow plug card ground. Let's take a look inside there's no resistance so there's gotta be a problem.

I'm surprised these trucks just don't catch fire every day.

My God, did that truck ever run? If it did it was a ticking time bomb or at least a definite "walk back home" when it failed truck.

Just because it may look good doesn't mean it is. Now is the time to check and correct every connection.

Shrink tubing and properly squinched/soldered connections is best.
