The C-847/U was part of the radio set AN/VRC-19:

Radio set, 152-174 MHz, FM, 25 W, TM 11-297, Major components:
R-394 Radio receiver, PP-867/U 24 VDC Power supply, T-278 Radio transmitter, DY-98/G 24 VDC Dynamotor, CY-938/VRC Electrical equipment cabinet.
This was a mobile FM comm set built by Motorola in 1951-2.

VRC 19 info

Tony,
Sent you a PM. I have two.
BC
Almost 3 years later, any VRC-19 parts or pieces left? Specifically interested in the R-394/U receiver. Probably 40 years ago, I acquired a complete VRC-19, and got it up and running. Converted it to the amateur radio band, and used it. Got rid of it all, and am now piecing it back together. Just need receiver parts, or a complete receiver. Thanks................Steve

Have some parts to sell

So...three years later...I am looking to outfit my m38a1 with a VRC-19. Any contacts or equipment leads?

Craig
I have R-394 receivers, and extra modules. I also have the FRR-36 housing which a receiver slides into, and has all of the receiver controls and speaker on the front. It would allow having an extra receiver only to used to monitor a second frequency for example. I also have an extra VRC-19 control head (C-847/u). Let me know of interest, and I can give you specific details. Contact me at evets73 (at) msn (dot) com

Is anyone still looking for any of this equipment? I just got about 5 Transmitters and I think one Reciever setup... Pictures available upon request.
