Camping in the back of a 1008

Those roof top tents are nice, but pricey. A guy in my area has one on a Jeep expedition rig he built.

Yep. The med cases fit perfect.

The bed on my M35a2 is from a M35a3. The M35a3 beds have d-cup tie downs which I hook ratchet straps to so the cots and cases are secured.

Whaaaaaat. Thats like Swiss Family Robinson! That top can take the weight?? Sometimes, I wish I got a M1009. :/

Weight? What weight? It weighs like 125#, and even with several people in it there hasn't been a problem.

What do you do for camping?

Do you have a cargo cover for it? Or do you simply transplant an RV into the bed?

Or pick up a M101 trailer and make a little camping rig that you can tow. It would be great to unhook your house when you go trail riding, you wouldn't have to worry about your stuff getting thrashed all over.

A 15 ton!? You must help lots of friends move. We camp out in out deuces in Oklahoma. You might try a tarp and bow system like on the M880's.

I am curious to know whether or not any of you have camped in the back of your M1008s.

I have both the canvas and vinyl covers for it. I am looking for one more set of the wood sides. They are 10 foot long and several inches higher than the normal sides.

I also have a 10' refrigerated container that I want to convert to a rv, the other ideas are a 20 foot shelter or a rv modified to use the container locks.

It is nice to be able to cruise at 58 mph down the freeway. We are working on factory AC, stereo and air ride seats.
