without being able to tell how big around it is, it looks like a steering shaft or a PTO shaft

When i bought the deuce i wanted to put a winch on it so i got a winch off one of the trucks he had and this driveshaft (5 ft long) is what he handed me also , i tried fitting both ends onto the winch but it seems to be small

That's a steering shaft off of something. Fine spline, cross bolt for clamping and keeping from pulling off...steering shaft something or other. Definitely not deuce PTO.

Agree that it is stearihng shaft. The fine spline is not usually used on a PTO shaft, otherwise it could be used as a PTO shaft, if its within its capacity. Change out the U-joint, for one that is conventially used in accessory applications.
