Can BO Light Switch be used on other lights?

My BO lights have long been abandoned and painted over and basically useless so I'd like to see if I can use the switch for some LED off road type lights. I"m not going to take the BO lights out, I'd just like to disconnect the wires from the switch and rewire some other lights to it.
Now I"m pretty good with electrical tasks, I just don't understand how the BO switch works because I haven't torn into one. Please enlighten me.

Are you using the BO Service switch for the regular lights?

The factory operation of the blackout lights is this: (going from memory ;-) )

both switches he's in the neutral position - no headlights, park lights or stop lights
Service switch in on position - all regular lights work
Service switch in off position - the main power for headlights, park lights and stop lights is disconnected
Service switch in B/O position - main power is now sent to the B/O switch
B/O switch in center position - B/O circuit now has power buy not energized
B/O switch in on position - power goes to the B/O relay and energizes - B/O lights work - Switch returns to center position
B/O switch to off position - the ground for the B/O relay is broken and relay turns off - B/O lights turn off

In the stock configuration you can not turn on the BO lights without first turning off the main lights (headlight, tail and stop). Just the way it is designed.

School me...how is the operation of one 3 lever light switch different from another?
While not a very good picture, there are two toggle switches in the CUCV compared to the standard 3-lever in most other MVs (including the M880 Dodge series)

And the operation is different
