Can "clearance lights" be used as turn signals/flashers?

The title sort-of sums up the question... I've noticed that there is a huge "blind spot" on the deuce in regards to indicating a turn, especially when a car gets just past the break light module.

Can these amber clearance lights be used as an additional flasher if tapped into the wiring harness for the existing flasher(s)???

When you say "hardest part"... Would one of those "Y" electrical connectors and maybe some additional length wire connected to the front and/or rear flasher's wire be all that is needed?

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to electricity!

great idea JimmyThompson! I was doing my circle check on my M923 today and was thinking the same thing. I would only make the yellow lights flash though.

I can't wait for photos!

I'm not sure how to make the lights flash-only! Like I said, I'm really a Forrest Gump when it comes to electrical!

Quick Question.

Tapping into the rear turn signal wire will also be the brake light wouldn't it? Red 'stop and turn', which comes from the 'blinker' unit on the bulkhead.

Wouldn't you have to find the wire that went forward to the 'amber' front turn lamps?

I haven't yet gotten into the wiring circuit - but I plan this as I need rear amber turns (with standard Red stop lights) also amber trailer turn lights.

OK DH and others - you can hit the TM blaster button now. :???:

simple, but the side markers must have 2 wires and not be grounded by the housing. run 1 wire to the power wire of the turn bulb and the other wire to the power wire of the running lights. the marker will then be grounded through the turn bulb so marker will light and when turn bulb is on there will be power on both sides of the marker bulb so it will go off. you will have to drive with the markers on all the time for this to work. you can also have separate turn signals on the rear as I have done on all my trucks. see http://www.waterloospecialties.com/trucks/index.html

Will do some checking, but some of the busses I work on have marker/turn lights on the sides of them. LED too, just don't know the voltage. Some have changed to 12VDC lighting since they went mostly LED, and installed EQs. The pigtails on said lights had 3 wires, ground, marker, and turn. Hmmmm..................

The buses do it with special lights with an extra wire and a 2 filament socket/bulb (for non-LED). Not hard, but def different from the common lights on these trucks. They are readily available from Trucklite and Dialite in 12 and 24 v versions.
