I would like to know if you can rear tow a HMMWV. As in, it being towed by another vehicle from the rear. What are the procedures for this if it can be done? Thank you for your input!

It's DOABLE, but make sure the tranny and transfer are in neutral. If they arent, you'll know VERY quickly.

An interesting side note...

I once sat on the side of the Manix Trail at NTC with a HEMTT wrecker and a HMMWV that had all 4 geared hubs locked up for several hours on a hot summer day in 1999... We staretd by driving it from Yermo to NTC, but it didnt want to go on it's own power, so we towed it with the M984 until the rear geared hubs locked up. We then repositioned it, towed it from the rear, causing the front geared hubs to lock up. Seems they serviced the HMMWV prior to NTC, but didnt refill the geared hubs with oil. We ended up flatracking it out of there to NTC... The guys at NTC told us that it was the first HMMWV they had seen recovered that way. Now it's almost a battle drill. Somewhere I have pics of it..
