After reading this thread I am compelled to throw my
in the ring. I have been in the MV /military
surplus arena since I was a 16 year old pup (53 year ole dog now.....hehehehee!!!!) and I used to buy from DRMO sales all the time. From time to time there were items that had EUC's, but back then all that was required was you signing the slip(EUC) for that item recognizing that you were aware that the item was on the SLI(strategic list Item) or on the MLI (munitions list item) lists and that they could not be exported without prior State Dept approval. You signed that paper and payed for your item and you loaded it and you left!!!
Now 911 changed a lot of things...........and rightfully so......but did it suddenly make a 3/4 ton trailer a threat to National security? Will a Deuce make it any easier for a terrorist to commit actions against the country? I THINK NOT!!!!!! and we need to wake up to the fact that EUC's have nothing to do with what GL would have you believe they do. The reason I feel this way is
the Govt. sells these and other of the same items, trucks, trailers gen sets,etc,etc,etc................
on its other sites........guess what? NO EUC. no 10% buyers premium!!!!
When we bid and win on GL what takes place on an EUC item(or any other for that matter)????
The first thing that happens is that your credit card pays them! That money is now in their hands until the EUC clears ,while this would seem innocent enough.Who collects interest on that money while YOU wait for the paperwork to clear? You guessed it .....GL.....and when you look at it on a case by case basis it would seem small amount,.....right?....but on a Global basis figure what the numbers figure to in a year.....EXPONENTIAL !!!!! and then when you look at the fact your credit card co. most likely starts hitting you with the interest on the money you now have
tied up with GL it makes it worse. Now while the EUC is clearing a percentage of your purchase is packed off by the other thieves ..........well you see where I am going here?
Well I will step off my soap box for now,but take the time to give the above a thought!!!
