Ft. Meade - recently won a AN/MJQ-18 power plant (dual mep-003a mounted on M-103 trailer).
Pictures of your GL score. Save the pictures from the auction for reference when filing your claim with GL and to take with you on the recovery. In the mean time post a few so us green iron addicts can see what you won!

This is my MEP 002A (one of the auction pictures):

Sorry for your loss!
I would like to point out (again) that any measures G/L takes to fix ANY problems will just end up costing all of us more money. Like the fix for the SF-97 now cost everyone 75.00 and a trip to the local LEO.
Ft. Steward G/L has lost all places to store vehicles and trailers and has to leave them with the turn-in unit or a lot across the base from their office.
They are under lock and key just at that lot but the G/L guy has to ask for the key. Wayne

Thanks - I'll give the pics upload a try. Not much to see - only one of one mep003a, and the rest are either external shots of the covered unit, or of the control panels and data plates. I may try to upload one or two of pics I took AFTER the theft.

Certainly wouldn't want to add cost to ANY of the good guys, just to satisfy my own problem. Would be nice, though, if somehow we could put an end to this "banana republic" crap that many have reported getting caught up in! I HAD to yield to "superior authority" and my "facts of life" as a P.O.W., but I don't take kindly to it, now, as a free American! GL should be held accountable for their lax security, when/if it causes those of us acting in good faith to take a hit, whether from them or from some other bidder with no values and no conscience!

Don't mean to sound like I'm preaching, here, but I am as upset with the fact that this is allowed to happen, as I am with the actual cost and inconvenience it represents.

Probably will need to take you up on that, and finding someone who COULD help with parts was a primary reason for my joining this group. I'm guessing that "PM" means "personal message"? Sorry to be so ignorant, but honesty is usually the best approach!

Sure, I know G/L and quite a few Police Dept. would like to know how to stop thieves. Please post any and all suggestions, everybody needs for it to stop.
BTW There have been a few posts on here from members about "nice" personnel that has allowed parts to be removed so they could get their trucks going. Go figure.

Sorry to hear that this thievery takes place after items are bought and paid for------the EUC policy seems ripe for this type of abuse....wouldnt it be better to have bidders pre-qualify the EUC background check and let buyers go get their stuff as soon as they can?.......anyone know where MEANINGFUL complaints can be filed - to possibly eliminate this problem

At a minimum it seems there should be security protecting items purchased in good faith-----unless the purchaser can be made whole - it seems only right to allow a victimized purchaser ---refuse delivery and get refunded

How can a business model like this succeed - buyers need to have faith that what they bought (and paid for - in advance) is going to be "as purchased"

As i see it you have three courses of action
1. refuse the lot on the grounds that it was picked over.... but you stand the chance of getting on GL's bad side and maybe getting kicked out of the system
2. File a claim with GL for replacements with cost estimates and roll the dice on how the GL cust service rep feels that day..... expect a two hour phone call at a minimum if my history is any guide. After you get far enough up the chain you can usually get helped but your going to have to work through the idiots who are only allowed to say "no"
3. my preferred method...... realize it just the cost of doing business with a government contractor, bypass the third filter and just run two and buy two more gas caps... to be fair to GL that looks like a low-moral bidder liberated those parts from you. Most GL lots are locked and/or supervised but often your left to your own devices when the rep shows you where your lot is. Im no thief but I have had a few things walk away from my stuff occasionally. Your particular missing items arent that big of a deal, i would refuse it if it was missing any major components but little stuff like that....nah

Apples and oranges, Wayne. From a security standpoint, the GL sites resemble police impound lots, far more than they do neighborhoods at large! I would guess that the "problem" has more to do with GL's cost of doing business (operating with minimum staff) and/or poor leadership/management than with anything else. Then, there appears to be the "fact" that we just accept it as our OWN cost of doing business! As long as we do that, the problem will continue.

As for the "nice" GL folks you refer to, of course that behavior isn't right, either. Represent the lot honestly - get what you bid on and pay for, and we never have to worry about "robbing Peter to pay Paul"!

No requirement for you to do ANYTHING, but I do sincerely appreciate the offer! My missing items truly are "nickle/dime", but there is principle involved, and violation of it reflects a sort of rot that seems to be growing throughout our society - that is what bothers me, most!

I WILL be in touch with you fine gents if/when the time comes - THANKS!

We are largely in agreement, although additional security would not seem to be called for. This pilfering is happening on controlled sites, with the acquiescence or assistance of GL personnel. Some sites, already, allow only escorted previews, etc. Properly overseen, that policy should end the problem.

I would guess that many, like me, don't WANT a refund or non-acceptance of the lot, when items are missing. We won a lot that was as advertised and previewed, and we just want that which we have won and paid for!

1. You're probably correct, but that course of action doesn't solve the problem -
it just keeps us from getting that one lot you've been waiting for.

2. A lot of work and time invested, for a less than satisfactory solution!

3. A very practical action, and one I am certainly considering. I agree, that these missing parts aren't all that big a deal, particularly IF they can easily be replaced or worked around, and that is part of why I started this thread - to find out how you gents who have been working the system for a while would handle it.

It still bugs me, though - to have the problems of someone else dumped in MY lap, because they don't have the moral fiber to do the right thing! Honor means something to me - I did not surrender mine, in far worse situations than this, and I still have faith that the majority of Americans are no different from me in that regard! I see proof of that, in the responses already received from members of SS. If/when integrity is sacrificed, then NOTHING has any value...

Thank YOU, for caring!

I'm stubborn, and I won't let go of this, easily. I'm not screwed, yet, but the potential is certainly there! I'm the "new kid on the block", so I'll feel my way along, for a while, but it is starting to look like it might help if we ALL made a little noise, when appropriate! Of course, many will say that it just isn't worth the hassle.

I know, there is also fear of retribution for some, and I have no doubt that fear is valid, but as long as we accept being pushed around, we will continue to BE pushed around. The same holds true in dealing with terrorists!

I'm guessing that GL needs US, at least as much as we need GL!
