Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
CCKW 353 159198-A1 built January 1943
Your truck was built the same day or the next after this one.
Hope this helps
Chris
were there open cab civilian trucks?Cab swap from a civilian truck could have happened. Stamped frame serial number will tell the story.
No. I assumed you had a closed cab, which seeing your other thread, I now know is not the case. Just to be sure , you are looking for the builder plate hole pattern in the center of the firewall, near the starter foot pedal, right?were there open cab civilian trucks?
I have one that has a similar tag from dept. of Interior.I have a cckw with no ID pate under dash and no holes to show there ever was one. It has an aluminum tag on the dash instead that says property of H.E.W.
health education and welfare. have you ever heard of a cckw that wasn't made on a military contract?
mine I think is a 1942 model, at least that what it says on the title. but without a data plate I don't know and haven't gotten into the serial # list to see if I can find it. Does yours have a military Data plate under the dash?I have one that has a similar tag from dept. of Interior.
Mine was gone also, the bed also has a plate on it if it has not been removed. Its on drivers side front between cab and bed.mine I think is a 1942 model, at least that what it says on the title. but without a data plate I don't know and haven't gotten into the serial # list to see if I can find it. the bed is a steel slab put on when it was a logging truck . I suspect the winch and dump were also put on after wards , though the right levers are in the floor and don't appear to be after market. the winch is a mead Morrison which is a bit unusal I think. I don't know much about them other than is was a very old company started in 1927 but never heard of them on any 2 1/2 ton trucks though they are mentioned on Diamond T 4 tom models.Mine was gone also, the bed also has a plate on it if it has not been removed.
