can somebody explain why the changing of the Valve is necessary...

I've read that if the valve fails, excess pressure can build up in the crankcase, often seen as oil leaking past the rear main seal.

I picked up a CDRV from Rock Auto besides not having the mounting points will this valve work on my M1009?? I have a msg out to ComTac to see if they still have any CDRV so what should I look for if this valve is not working right? Thanks
