Looking for a cheaper way to get rear facing PTO for a lime spreader. Is there a tranny compatable with the original with out a lot fabrication? Would not necessarily need 5th over, but would be nice. Woulnd't be a lot of road travel, just between fields. I have 2 other trucks that will need rear facing PTO's also. Seems as though I've seen some civilian Trans with 2 PTO ports. As a side note the truck would be well maintained and not abused. It would live in machinery shed when not in use. I realize the purists may not like this abonmination, but will live on for a long time! TIA, Andy.

Are you using the PTO on it now, like for a winch?

The 545 Allison (and 1545 used in the M35A3) has a PTO port that can handle to 35 hp. It takes the same PTO unit as the 5 tons with 645, just is geared smaller (gears mesh properly). That is 1/1 final so will not set speed records.
