I went with a 24 to 12 volt power converter and 24 volt relays when the signal or running lights turn on it activates the relay allowing the 12 volt from the converter to flow through and power my trailer lights, and the power converter gives me power for the cb, am/fm radio with satelite radio, and a 12 volt power point (cigerate plug in)

Not completely. That connector will allow a civvy trailer to connect to an MV but the trailer would still be receiving 24V. They are referring to something like this:

24 volt relays are common industrial parts - check with Grainger or McMaster. There are also lots floating around surplus. I found sealed, 24 volt, 2-pole relays at a surplus store for $ 2 each. Look for an electronics dealer instead of a vehicle surplus dealer, such as Fair Radio, Murphy's Surplus, and Saturn Surplus. Another source is a marine electronics company, like Blue-sea systems.

For wiring, I just bought a U-Haul $30 magnetic light setup. I then went to NAPA and got 24 volt bulbs. You can then use a military plug and plug into the trailer plug, or tap into the turn signal and light wires before they go into the military plug. This gives you lights, but not power for trailer brakes. You will have to look elsewhere for 12V for that use.

It is based on the same converter that XM381.com sells but for a fraction of the cost..

You need to post a "build" thread on how you did this. What parts you used and a wiring schematic for others to see.

anyone have dimensions of the CURT 14082 Class IV Receiver outside to outside?


i thought this was for a 97 k1500 as amazon stated so i pulled the reciever off my 97 k1500 and the dang thing was to wide!! it wasent the curt one though but i cant imagine them being much different off same vehicle.


the widest i could fit would be 34" as that is the distance from the outside of my from to the other outside of the frame.
