:jumpin::grd: Some our members sound like I love my truck but I don't trust it to go around the block so no one should try any thing else. If I had the time and the truck to do the trip I'd go for it just to say had to all the those that said couldn't wouldn't . Just my two cents.

My 2 cents:

I just got back from a SC to CA, north to Glacier N.P, back to SC loop...about 9k miles...in 17 days.

In a rental car. It was fun but BRUTAL. I do not yet own one of these great machines, but there is no way I would make a cross country drive in a vehicle like that unless I planned to span it over 2+ weeks just one way and camp, hike, and site-see along the way.

Otherwise it is just WAY more trouble than it's worth. Remember...it's not just fuel costs.

3k miles on the tires. 3k miles towards needing an oil change. Wear on the brakes coming out of the Rockies, etc.

Now, as I said, I don't own one of these yet, so some of these things might be a bigger or smaller issue than in a regular vehicle. But, I would either make it an amazing "trip of a lifetime" type event or buy local....or ship it.

If your avatar is any indication of your sense of humor I say go for it just
for sh*t's and grins! My girlfriend (RedHeadHottie) and I got a real belly laugh
from the flaming squirrel. You should use a crispy charred squirrel as a hood ornament for your bobber. If I had the means and the time I would most
certainly do it just for the adventure, regardless of whether finding a truck closer to me or shipping made more sense.

I've seen Hundy's trucks up close, very well put together. If I had the time and $, I think I'd do a trip like that. I'd take two weeks and do it. Pay attention to the list of parts posted earlier. Add a couple of tires to it, some flare line plugs to plug a failed wheel cylinder/brake hose, some sort of device to get you pulled off the road/hwy..just in case , a jack and cribbing/stands capable of lifting the truck, assorted hardware...nuts, bolts, clamps, etc. Might be fun and a good way to see our country.

It's been about a year now so this trip has probably already happened. But if I were to drive a Deuce across the country I'd stop every 100 miles and beg every roadside restaurant for their fryer grease. Then top it off with diesel.
