Convert generator sync box to 240v?

Hi all, I am hoping to use my generator sync/transfer box for 240v, if possible. Has anyone tried this so far? My powerplant came without the pigtail cables connecting the generators to the box, so I'm going to have to start a hunt for those if the box can be made to work...

The following TMs have some information on the Switch Box used on the MEP-802 and 803 generators. These units can supply 240 volt single phase 60Hz power.

TM 9-6115-659-13&P
TM 9-6115-660-13&P

What generator was your switch box used with?

This came on a 10k powerplant, but I plan to have a 10k on one side and a 5k on the other. I took the platform off the trailer frame and am mounting it in my yard.

Well, I have never seen one like this, and you haven't told us from where and what it came from. In any case, the TM's listed above will not have thesw parts listed in them. So, its hard to say, yes, you can change it. Your big problem will be that all the contacters and power using parts are not set up for 240. Or maybe some will be able to use 240. The relays and contacters should say on the side, what operating voltages they will use. So what did you remove this box from?

There is another data plate on the trailer. Should look something like the below picture. Any trailer with more then one gen set is a PP. Power Plant.

If we know what power plant it was, makes finding the TM with the information on your Sync box easier.

This box has a twist lock plug on it. Something I never saw, during the 2003-2010 time frame I worked on them.

If you are looking for a sync box I have one, complete with cables. It is untested by me, but includes testing paperwork from the depot saying it was tested in 2015.

It was designed to switch 120/208V 3 ph.

Shouldn't be any problem using two legs of 120/240 single phase thru it, just pick the correct legs to it to work the contactor coils.

How do you sync one phase? Are the contactor coils 24 VDC? Or AC? Can you leave K3 in the circuit? Or do you need to wire by it?

This is a trailer I never saw. Will ask someone if he has the TM.
So, here is the story for mijoe and Zed. This was supposed to be an "improved" AN/MJQ-37 type trailer. The sync box was a "special" addition. Cost about 7000 bucks. Used on a Sat system no longer in use. The Item manager, never released the TM, or parts listing for the P.P. When something went wrong with the Sync box, the CECOM simply tossed it out, and installed the Sync box that you will find in TM 9-6115-660-13&P.
