Within a year or two! David Doyle has been collecting all the hard facts on this and I'm sure will chime in if he's not on the road.

the 05 lot # trucks came out in 1970 according to Dave's article in MV Mag.. He should be able to provide you with a better date when he checks. He's been compling info on manufacture dates for quite some time.

You can also contact AM General customer relations, they can tell you when it was built. Thats how I got the year on mine. My serial # NK039A 0540 10302, built in '72.

David Doyle whats your opinion based on your data

It is NK067U054012998

Truck is registered as an 82

engine says made in 72

Clueless AM general says they have no data but by the 7th digit on the vin it may be a 77

I am indeed on the road (St. Roberts, MO - Fort Lost in the Woods), but I can tell you for sure that NK067U054012998 was NOT built in 1982. Without all my notes I'm only giving you an educated guess - but 72 sounds right for the truck, especially given that matches the engine.

HTH,
David

Article says multi-fuel 2.5 ton cargo trucks fron 1972 to 1982 began with NK. You should be able to look at all major components and figure it out.
