Couple m911 questions

Slightly ot but he's done the same with almost every piece of equipment imaginable. Very good source of info.


As for the m911, what's the tare weight vs one of those newer heavy haul trucks?

Tare weight as stickered on this c500 6x6 kenworth. Keeping in mind no tag axle on it.

You mean m870?


Aspen makes some neat stuff, is that trailer overwidth? It looks wide, and the red rag hanging on the side caught my eye.


I'm sure with a heavy haul trailer you may have some leveling options to help with the increased payload and hitch height.

No that m870 is different. I looked at the pics. Equipment haulers use those drop neck trailers religiously.

The Aspen in the pic is adjustible from flat deck to the drop you see in the pic. Depending on height of the tractor, specific load requirement, etc . But its not detachable.

In that one link it talks about the Allison retarder. This is what it looks like. A paddle wheel on the input shaft. That housing fills with tranny oil and this has to spin in it.

If i remember right, the M870 is normal width, but the M747 is overwidth.

Also, check Olive Drab for info on the truck. They seem to always have something on everything.2cents

The M870 is normal width and the M747 is overwidth. The only problem with the M870 trailer is that you have to have a winch to hook and unhook from it (as well as raise/lower the ramp). Not a quick process by any means. An RGN would be better if you could find on that would work.

Post from a lurker. My employer purchased a M911 and M7474 trailer back in March of this year. Yes they need permits to just go down the road. Go to Custom Welding & Fabricating : Moran Iron Works and under the newsletters on the left, look at March, April and May 2011 for some pictures of ours in action. We did extend the length of the trailer to haul our fabrications. We haul them to the port in Roger City, MI from Onaway via a high wire corridor that allows us to haul 28 ft tall. The half cone coming out of the building is approx 60 ft in diameter. We also had to install a new door to get the half cone out of the building.

Never served, but since getting this unit, have been reading the posts and thoroughly enjoy the site.
