It is with sadness that we report the unexpected death of our father, Prentice Colby, aka Boatcarpenter.
His obituary is here:

You may not know us (Eben and Elijah Colby, Prentice's sons), but we know of you. The evenings he spent reading, researching and posting on Steel Soldiers were a great pleasure to him (and likely his reason for learning the computer). This site - and the good folks who meet, chat, and exchange advice under its digital shade tree - is just the kind of community our dad loved. He spoke about it often.
Our dad was practical, kind and smart, which is why he fit right in. Among this group of clever, helpful tinkerers, he was engaged, delighted, and at home.
As we fumble our way through the care and operation of his Deuce, do not be surprised if you hear from us. Thank you for the good fun you gave our dad, and thank you in advance for helping us carry on his pursuits.
Sincerely,
Eben and Elijah Colby
