Warthog- The United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867. I believe we paid them about 7 million dollars for the land. But, as far as I know, we have owned it since...maybe China ownes it now.

Sorry about that satement guys , "lower 48 states" is what I was thinking.
AK is just to far to do a road trip.
