CUCV M1028 Charging System Problems

Okay, now that I finally was able to pick up my truck from GL, I seem to have run into a bit of an issue I can't seem to figure out. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
For the first week, the truck was charging fine with no lights on the dash charging 24 plus. Now for the last two weeks, I start the truck and it's fine, but when it kicks down from high idle the Gen 2 light flashes. If you give it gas, the light goes out. This happens even when driving, at a stop the Gen 2 light comes on. At an idle, it charges at 28 volts. The light stays solid red at an idle now, it doesn't flash anymore. Any ideas?
Also,what is the huge resister that is behind the air cleaner on the firewall? The wires are cut and the resister isn't hooked up. Does that have anything to do with the charging problem?

Hopefully, I'll be able to figure out how to get some pics to you, beings it took me two weeks to figure out how to start a new thread, I'll take any suggestions.

Did this truck come from Ft. Meade? Just picked up a M1028 from there, starts runs and drives, volt meter says its charging, all lights, dash, heater, wipers work, gen 1 and gen 2 lights go out but has no firewall resistor though, haven't checked to see if they converted to 12V yet, too much rain!

just increase the idle speed slightly the gen 2 light will go out and stay out.

The big resistor receives 24 volts and drops it to 12 volts which goes to the glowplug relay.

It sounds like the regulator is going bad in the alternator.

The truck come from Portsmouth, va. ever think works except drive shaft, broken turn single switch and tie rod ends. Did that truck have a back window guard on it.

No, but a bent driveshaft, broken driver's glass, rusted passenger door, one dead battery, missing glow plug card. Glass is replaced, passenger door is replaced, put in glow plug card, one new battery. Haven't had time yet to find out why it runs with out the firewall resistor yet though.
