Any recommendations for sourcing a new gear reduction starter?

Or should I just start with replacing solenoid only? Presume solenoid part # is same whether its DD or gear reduction starter?

Pic of current starter posted below, noting mine does not have support bracket.

I've read a bit on perils of "reman" starters refurbished with inferior parts, etc.



Bradl I prefer the old dd starters, replace yours with a new one and get your old one rebuilt for a spare.

I'd ask locally. Shipping a starter to and from PA from TX isn't going to bring the cost down much.

Ask your local NAPA or CarQuest who they recommend. They will know who's who in your area.
