I know this has been discussed before but it's been a while.

How many CUCVS have been seen lately waiting to be sold?
Sometimes you can see a few in the background in GP listing pics.
I know quite a few are still serving.

The auction pool is getting smaller each week
I'm in the market for two more good ones myself.

Just curious what guys are seeing sitting around when they recover theirs.

I see a few at Ft. Polk in a lot on the way to DRMO that are painted various colors. I think they are used as the "opposing" force as Ft. Polk does a lot of training for folks going to the sandboxes.
Large batch of rough scrappers sold earlier in Pineville, La

One can see several in use daily at Ft Indiantown Gap, PA. They are all pickups. I have not seen any M1009s in use for several years now. The last one I saw in use was the one used for daily "trail" inspections in Quantico.

It's impossible to know exactly how many CUCVs are left for auction I know.

Just curious what everyone is seeing while their on base. Some are still in service of course, but really interested in those that are ready to be cut loose from Uncle Sam.

GP auction pics show a few CUCVs sitting in the background waiting for their auction date.

Are there thousands left to be sold or is it in the hundreds?

Fewer each week.

Saw one in Bagram, Afghanistan last year. Really rough, but still hauling.

Mine came from DRMO at Ft Lewis, Washington. There were 2 being surplussed. I got the nicer one. I have seen them running around on base as well.

I was told by one of the shuttle bus drivers on Bangor Trident Base that they have a couple M1009s that are sitting with snow plows attached for use when it snows. Given it hasn't snowed in several years I'm guessing they may be inoperable.

When I picked up my first CUCV at Fort Hood there were about 10-15 CUCVs waiting to be sold.
Only saw 1008 & 1009s about half of each.

But a lot have been sold out of there so I'm sure Pickens are slim there now.

Can find some with google earth on the bases but it's not updated often enough to really use it that way.

Would GP have any idea?
I don't know how much advance notice they get on trucks going to auction.

There is a whole buch of brandy new looking ones palletized ready for shipping. They are sitting right behind the stacks of WWII Jeeps in crates that were selling for $50.

I get the feeling a lot were left in the Middle East and I had read an article that was either in pop sci or pop mech that nasa is gobbling them up as they use them for mobile observatories, they need something free of a distributor/ coil and modern electronics to avoid interference problems and they spend a pretty penny keeping them operational and even restoring them.

Yes I've personally seen a lot of the ones that were left in the sandbox. Those will never come back.

I know quite a few were at fort hood.
About 6 or so at fort Sam Houston
Some in background of auction pics in Kansas.
Same for Texarkana

Curious about what guys are actually seeing at the other bases.
The ones sitting and waiting to be sold.

Might try the GSA auction site as some CUCVs were given to rural fire departments and now are selling them.
Most of these are way worse than what the military is selling.

I've been looking at the GSA site. Most are hamburger

I prefer mine straight from the military. Still a crapshoot of course
