I did this mod a few years back, kept the fuel setting the same.
no noticable smoke any more.
quite a bit quieter as well.
used the parts from a 335 cummins, including exhaust manifold.
had to fab my own intake plumbing from 3 inch tubing, works rather well.
Just spent the last half hour trying to post the pictures of this, can't figure out how to do it.
I am using Microsoft Photo Editor.
Where is the 'cut and paste' type shortcut?
