I put the adjustable one in mine.
They wont magically give you more power, but if you are having problems they are a fairly cheap place to start throwing parts. As said they are prone to failure on our old motors.

Also you can get new generic lift pumps for around $25. If you haven’t already replaced your it’s always good to have a spare in the tool box anyhow!

The overflow valve is actually the banjo bolt that threads into the fuel return port for the fuel return hose on the side of the pump.
