I believe I have 10k axles. They have 7 ribs in the boots and 10 1/2 in rotors. This is on a 1994 M998A2. So I am looking for part numbers. Are the inners and outers the same? I am having a problem geting a straight answer.

I'm assuming that there was a typo and you mean M998A1? If so, I dug this information out of a thread from 2015:

A1's are : 12342974-1.....rears
12342974-2..................R/F
12342974-3..................L/F
Those hit to being the part kits to rebuild the axles.

There was a thread talking about Ford Escort boots fitting our needs.

I'll try to look later but I'm in office and surgery today.

Maybe someone else might look it up? It's about rebuilding vs. replacing CV joints when they rupture IIRC.

Best,

T

Yes. A1. Sorry. I found that post with the axle #. I need boot #. Any help would be great. Thanks.
Found it. Did some flipping between the 24P and PartTarget. Looking for UOC A13, I can see that the inner boot is 2880016, or you can get the entire repair kit (bands, c-clips, boot) with 57K0274. The outer boot is 2880015, and its boot repair kit is 57K0275.

Found all my CV boots and got them coming. Dose anyone have a source for a tub of CV joint grease? All I can find are the little packets. I assume it takes the black molly CV grease for the inboard and outboard joints

I looked in multiple TM's and lube orders and can find nothing on what grease I am suppose to use. I also looked in Mitchels and Identidix for H1's and found nothing. I appreciate the info about the molly and lithium but every where I ask I get different answers. Just looking for an official answer or conformation on one of the many answers I have gotten

This thread makes my brain hurt. Found a torn boot on the left front outer CV on Saturday. Pulled a new axle from my stash and 30 minutes later a new axle was in place. I guess it's a function of what your time is worth.
