d turbo for a c turbo

I have a d turbo on my truck and would like to trade for a c turbo. The turbo is new condition. I can send pics, and it works good. I just like the sound of the c over the d turbo. I am willing to pay shipping both ways.

From the FAQ..."Two turbos were used on the LDT engines. C turbo, narrow exhaust side housing, and whistler. D turbo, fat exhaust side housing, non-whistler."

im in the same boat trade d for c ....only thing better about the d is the heat shielding to the bearings as far as I know some people state a power change but I would not know.

I have a "D" turbo and have driven both. If there is a difference in power it is not appreciable. I really do not like the whistling so I was thrilled to find out the truck I was buying was a D. Happy hunting.

I think the "D" equipped motor has a throatier growl to it. I prefer the D turbo, but like the roar of the 855ci Cummins even more.

I just like the sound of the c turbo over the d turbo. The engine in mine was just installed in my truck, it only has about 183 miles on it. All the electrical in new, drive train, and tires. I just need to strip the 12 layers of paint and she will be going good. When I drove her home she went over 64 mph, and I still had a little more to go. My dad was impressed as he followed close to check it with his truck.

I've got a C turbo in my M109 that I'll happily trade you.

My Charlie model came with a D and when I picked up an older M35 that had a C Whistler on it I was hooked. After about a thousand miles, I now understand the practicality of the D over the "headache maker". Okay, It sure does sound great on rides less than an hour or so. No noticable power up with the C on my '88

I put 3 different angles on the intake side of the compressor side housing and blend them together with radiuses. And polish out the rough casting on the discharge. This takes turbulance out on the discharge and the intake is able to swallow more air. The exaust gas casing it also deburred and bored on the output. This had produced good results on the flow bench.

I have a "C" and LOVE IT. People that do not know anything about these trucks say "WOW, I love the sound of that turbo".
Music to the ear.

I guess it just depends on how much you drive it, and how much that novelty is worth to you. I'm just trying to make my M109 a little more civilized (OK, a LOT more civilized) because I'm living in it and consequently, will be logging a lot of miles in Mah Deuce.

Drive it almost daily. 2500 miles in 2 months. Yes I do like the novelty, but more the sound. If you are tired of yours please pass it on to another SS who will cherish it.
