He's right Ni...It looks like the snap ring on the axel is gone ,but remnants of the lockout remain.You may have to pry out on whats left of the lockout while taping the axel in , unless it welded itself to the axel . This may turn into chisel project to remove whats left of the lockout . other than the axel itself there is noyhing your going to hurt. But the remaineder of the lockout has to be removed to get at the wheel bearing nuts .
There is one gear left... although, it looks like part of one snap ring remains on the outside of the spline gear. My eyes aren't that good. You can also heat up the hub gear with a small torch, that would help, or you can beat it off...
Looks like you may need a new axle stub too.
Porky, what about using one of the small pulley type pullers? Hook it around the flange, and let the bolt center in the middle of the axle stub shaft?
