We use walkie talkies to communicate truck to truck during travel to and from the rally.
Steel Soldiers now has a few new forums, read more about it at: New Munitions Forums!
I have my Technician license - I'm not really knowledgeable about it though, hardly even get on the air. I got certified last August. There was a guy there last year (or maybe the year before) that had a bunch of military radio equipment displayed. I talked to him for a little while - he was very a knowledgeable ham. Maybe he will be there this year. I also have a couple of GMRS frequencies programmed in my HTs - although it is not legal to use Ham radios for GMRS commo because of the power limitations.Anyone use a HAM radio during these rallys? I know they do at the GA rally, but wasn't sure about this one. I have been taking some practice exams and thinking about going for my technician license in the next month or two. It would be cool to meet someone knowledgeable to answer questions or just chat about related stuff. Maybe radios would be useful during the convoy? My handheld will operate on the same frequencies as the "walkie talkies" everyone uses now (FRS / GMRS), provided I can program in the right privacy code.
LOL - yeah, I did too last year! I don't know who was behind me, but I don't think they were too close.I use smoke signals
Black smoke you had better be out of the way.
No smoke I've stopped come see what's wrong

I think you can use it on GMRS, up to 5 watts. FRS is restricted to 1/2 watt technically.I have my Technician license - I'm not really knowledgeable about it though, hardly even get on the air. You're right - I was thinking that GMRS was limited to 1w, but it IS 5w. The only thing is that you have to possess a GMRS license to use those frequencies with a GMRS radio - legally). https://www.fcc.gov/general/general-mobile-radio-service-gmrs.I think you can use it on GMRS, up to 5 watts. Planning on camping?Hey I got a question I have never been to this or really posted here before but I'm planning on coming Friday and Saturday with my M35a2. I was wondering how much does it cost to get in. And a little bit more info on the trail ride and the convoy to the bbq
Idk It's only about a hour drive for me we might just spend the nightPlanning on camping?
10-4 alright well I will definitely be coming Friday and Saturday. So what about cost to get in at the farm park and trail ride and food??Trail ride is something new, I don't know anything more about it than what was posted here. The BBQ convoy was to wheelspinner ' s house. Speeds was kept down to 45mph so everyone stayed together. We even had a police escort thru Denton. Blake makes the BBQ and it's awesome. Alot of us went out to eat too a diner one night.
Alright I will pack the tent just in case we stayThe place is wooded, so it's fairly cool if it's nice and sunny. We had a fire one night. Great time hanging out with everyone. I can't remember if there was a charge to get in, or how much it was to camp.
