Desert Storm paint

Is CARC 686 Sand the color vehicles were painted when they were shipped or arrived in Saudi Arabia circa 1991? Or was it a different tan?

I ask because I just got some real CARC 686 Sand and repainted my tailgate today and its much lighter in color than the tan that is on my truck. Im not sure I like the lighter color. I know my truck is GI CARC because of the guy I got it from got it at Camp Roberts.

Ours stayed three color Nato. The ones that were painted were 686.

It all depends on who, when and where it was painted all kinds of paint were used, carc and noncarc, latex, polyurethane whatever folks could get a hold of. My M885 has about 3 colors of sand/tan on it. It doesn't show up in a picture but does in person.

I've noticed some of it is more yellowish than others.
