Determining Make and Year

I just picked up a new truck from GL but have no idea of make or year of manufacture for it. The data plate (it looks like a replacement) has the following:

NSN 2320-00-077-1616
ID 04A-837710525-17745
Contract 06-70-C-0001

It looks like Carnac's thread is closed so what other options do I have to find out more about this truck? Thanks in advance

The Army number for it is 04A83771, they type is 0525, and the serial number (that should match the frame is 17745. Just from what I've seen on my own trucks, it was probably made in 1970-72 by either Kaiser Jeep (early) or AM General (71 on). HTH. BTW, there is a 2009 VIN Info thread, but CARNAC is in the process of moving and may not have seen recent posts.

If the data plate is correct (they are sometimes wrong) it is a '71. '71 is right in a trasition year so it could be a General Products Division or a Kaiser Jeep. I don't think there were any AM General trucks in '71 but I could be wrong. I've got a '71 GPD truck. I would also check the frame number to make sure the data plate was right.

I have an M35A1 ex USAF so Carnac has no info but can any body ID the manufacturer please, no on the frame on passenger side is 10872005 and a date July 07 1967. Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Who is the Manufacturer that correlates to Manufacturer code 65909? My two M35A2's I believe are aroud 1971 and the data plate has emblem !/!_! with a bar across the top (can't create with keyboard) General Products Division. I believe oneBob says Jeep corporation. Is this Kiser, Jeep , AM General ??? Any help greatly appreciated

From another thread giving the history of AM General Corp:

• May 14, 1970 - Jeep Comporation General Products Division corporate offices were moved from Toledo, Ohio to Wayne, Michigan.
• March 31, 1971 - Jeep Corporation General Products Division facilities and business were spun off and a separate wholly-owned subsidiary of American Motors was formed and named AM General Corporation.

So the answer to your question seems to be - Jeep Corporation, General Products Division.

Thanks for the info. On my dataplate it has the

emblem before the words General products Division. It came back as a 1971. Is this posssible or based on this would it be a AM General?
